At EcoHaven Homes, we design every home with purpose—prioritizing energy efficiency, comfort, and long-term sustainability. While our homes currently meet Step 4 of the BC Energy Step Code, our sights are set on the future: achieving fully net-zero performance as we grow. Here's a look at the materials and methods we use today to build homes that are smart, healthy, and future-ready.

Cellulose Insulation: Smart, Sustainable, and Super Efficient
When it comes to insulation, we choose cellulose—an environmentally friendly material made from recycled paper. It has excellent thermal performance, helping regulate indoor temperatures and reducing the need for excessive heating and cooling. It’s a smart way to stay comfortable year-round while lowering energy use.
Triple-Glazed Windows: A Key Feature of an Energy-Efficient Home
Our homes are built with high-performance, triple-pane windows that improve thermal efficiency and reduce heat loss. They also enhance indoor comfort by minimizing drafts and outside noise. Better windows mean less energy spent regulating your indoor climate—and more natural light in every room.

Insulated Slab Foundations: A Solid Start for an Efficient Home
We use insulated slab-on-grade foundations to reduce heat transfer between the home and the ground. This helps keep floors warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and supports consistent indoor temperature control—an essential feature of any energy-efficient home.
No VOC Paint: A Healthier Living Space
Our commitment to sustainability includes the air you breathe. That’s why we use no or low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint in all of our builds. These paints improve indoor air quality by reducing exposure to harmful chemicals, making your home healthier for your family.
Metal Roofing: Durable, Efficient, and Solar Ready
A metal roof isn’t just stylish—it’s smart. Metal reflects heat in the summer, reduces cooling costs, and lasts significantly longer than traditional roofing materials. It also pairs perfectly with future solar upgrades, helping support our goal of reaching net-zero.
Locally Sourced Materials: Supporting Sustainability Close to Home
Whenever possible, we use locally sourced materials. This reduces emissions from transportation, supports local suppliers, and ensures the materials we choose are well-suited to our climate. Local sourcing is one of the many small choices that add up to meaningful environmental impact.
Built for Today—and Tomorrow
We’re proud to be building homes that meet Step 4 of the BC Energy Step Code—one of the highest current efficiency standards in British Columbia. At the same time, we’re preparing for what comes next. Our long-term vision is to offer homes that are fully net-zero, helping to create a healthier, more sustainable future for all.

The path to net-zero living doesn’t happen overnight—but every decision we make today brings us closer. Whether it's choosing sustainable materials, prioritizing indoor health, or designing with long-term energy savings in mind, we're building with intention. As codes evolve and technology advances, EcoHaven Homes will continue pushing forward—so that the homes we build today can support a cleaner, smarter future tomorrow.
